God Save the King Patreon Update (August 2018)

You can read the Patreon update on my Patreon site here. Or read the following…

Hello, all followers of God Save the King!

I am sure many of you are wondering about the state of affairs, so I figured it is about time for an update.

We have reached a transition in our work here at God Save the King. Allow me to explain…

As I have mentioned in previous updates, I have been teaching GSK for over 30 years. In the past, almost all of the teaching was either live or recorded audio lectures and the whole point of my Patreon project has been to make God Save the King available on video (DVD). As we began the project early last year, my producer pitched the idea to Parables.TV, and they accepted. As a result, the DVD project morphed into an eight-part TV series. We recorded the raw footage last September and have been working in post-production ever since. Needless to say, it has taken longer than we expected, but we have been faithfully slugging away and getting closer to release day-by-day. During that time, I continued to publish monthly essays to continue to raise money for the ongoing project. In the broad strokes, the plan has always been to put the TV series on the DVD but also to add some bonus footage to sweeten the deal.

In addition, we have had other ideas on the back burner waiting for the day to bring them to the front so-to-speak.

My vision for God Save the King breaks down into three primary components I call “Chronicles.” The Judean Chronicle focuses on Judean perspective, the nation of Judea, and the Judean characters in the nativity story—Elizabeth and Zechariah, Joseph and Mary, the shepherds, etc.—and specifically addresses the multitude of misconceptions in the traditional version of the nativity story, most of which are encountered in this context.

The Parthian Chronicle will focus on the influence and perspective of the Parthian Empire and Parthian characters in the nativity story—primarily the Magi, but also Parthian royalty, as well as a history of the Magi, who they were, what their responsibilities were, etc., and of course—what did they see in the stars? Including how did they know what to look for? Or even to look to the stars at all?

Finally,The Roman Chronicle will focus on the influence and perspective of the Roman Empire and “Roman” characters in and around the nativity story. This will include the international “backstory” and will include such notable historical figures as Julius and Augustus Caesar, Mark Antony and Cleopatra, and especially Herod the Great, the Roman appointed King of Judea.

The end result will be an epic tale of ancient international political and religious intrigue culminating in the birth of the King of Kings.

The essays published on Patreon so far essentially represent The Judean Chronicle, and therefore I have transitioned into editing them for publication as a book. The resulting workload is too large for me to engage in the book editing and publish a monthly essay at the same time. Therefore, for the next month or two, you may not see a published essay.

Also, we have begun to plant the seeds of The Parthian Chronicle. There is still a lot of work to do to get the TV series finished, the DVD finished, and the book published, so it is definitely only “seeds” at this stage, but we are sowing them nonetheless.

In the meantime, it is my intention to post some fun facts and insights—so stay tuned.

If you are not a Patron, please consider supporting this project here.

Thank you for your faithful support, without which this project would not be possible. Every penny donated by my Patrons has gone directly to producing the DVD/TV show and nothing else.

Stay tuned for additional updates.

In His Logic and Love,

Tim Keyes
